On The Move
- 16 October 2024 -
Robin De Taeye - Scientific staff / PhD scholarship (100%)

I'm Robin De Taeye, just graduated in 2nd Master REVAKI - Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation at Ghent University. Super excited to start here and get to know you all!
Outside my academic adventures, you can often find me on my bike, engaged in cycling-related matters or running, always looking for new routes and fun challenges. Cycling and follow football are my big sporting passions, so if you want to catch up on the latest sports news, I'm your man!
Besides sports, I am a big animal lover who also loves art, literature, food and everything to do with Italy. I thoroughly enjoy culinary discoveries and am always up for a nice and cozy snack and drink. And let's not forget music - I love putting together the perfect playlist for a humorous quiz night or making long, boring car journeys a party.
I look forward to working together and making new memories. Feel free to have a chat with me and see you soon!

Casey Dewanckele - PhD scholarship (100%)

I am Casey Dewanckele and started a PhD fellowship within the CESLAS team at the beginning of October. My strong interest in voice and voice disorders is at the core of my research. Last year, I obtained my master's degree in speech therapy and was already able to delve into some research around voice.
Outside my academic career, I am someone who can greatly enjoy the little things in life. I love a walk in the woods or on the beach with my puppy Ronnie, a miniature dachshund, or a board game with friends. I like to cook elaborate dishes (whether it is always delicious is another matter now). I also like to make time to go out for a nice meal. My favourite drink is a fine tea, but you will never hear me say no to an Italian coffee either.

Débora Kawakami - Guest researcher (100%)

My name is Débora Kawakami. I am a 30-year-old Brazilian physiotherapist and a PhD student at the Federal University of São Carlos under the supervision of prof. Renata Mendes. I will be here for a year to conduct part of my PhD research under the supervision of prof. Heleen Demeyer. My research focuses on patients with COPD exacerbations, particularly on physical activity levels and motivation for exercise-related behavior change. I am excited to contribute to the project and learn from the team.
Outside of work, I enjoy running, trying new foods, exploring different cultures, meeting people, hiking, and discovering new places. Ghent seems like a fantastic city, and I already have many positive expectations for these 12 months. Thank you for the warm welcome.
PS: if anyone is looking for or has any tips on how to see the Northern Lights, please let me know.

Jolien Laemers - Assistant (50%)

I am Jolien Laemers and from 15 October you will be able to find me at 1B3 as assistant to prof. Ruth Van Der Looven and prof. Dirk Cambier. My research will be on neuroplasticity in neonates with brachial plexus injury. I have been working as a physiotherapist in an independent practice for four years but as I am ready for a new challenge, I am trading 50% for scientific research and teaching in the department. I graduated from Ghent University in 2020 as a master in Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy with a specialisation in Paediatrics. My areas of interest are children with neurological disorders and early intervention in babies.
In my spare time, you can find me in Ghent, going out with friends and family. Furthermore, I love exploring the world and going to the occasional concert. See you soon!

Marthe Limbourg - Scientific staff (20%)

I am Marthe Limbourg, 23 years old, and I live in Lebbeke. I obtained my master of science degree in speech therapy and audiology at Ghent University in July.
When I was five years old, I started as a member of Chiro Sonneveld in Lebbeke, of which I was also the group leader for the last three years. I also enjoy dancing and being creative. I would like to bring this creativity and energy to the job of scientific assistant under the supervision of prof. Hannah Keppler. I am really looking forward to getting started at Ghent University and having a chat with everyone to get to know each other better. Hope to see you soon!
